How to Host a Do-Good Gathering

We love any reason to get our best friends and new friends together for a shared meal and drinks — even better if we also get to celebrate women and make a difference in women’s lives!

Here are our 5 tips for hosting a Do-Good Gathering.

1. Pick a Purpose

We love hosting Do-Good Gatherings in March because it’s Women’s History Month. This year, our theme is #WomenMakingHistory and we are celebrating women near and far. From the incredible women who make Sudara’s products and inspire us with their strength and perseverance to fellow female founders and business owners to women who have paved the way for the next generation.

2. Make it Cozy… or Go Big!

We love a big gathering with a lot of friends, but a small group of 6-10 people will make it easier for each person to participate in a discussion and allow you to share your heart for the cause/purpose of your gathering. If you have your heart set on a big event, though, go for it! You can also have people mingle for a while and then break out into natural, smaller groups for discussion.

If you have a lot of “faraway friends,” you can also host an online gathering — BYOB. 😉

3. Prepare Food and Drinks Ahead

One of our favorite things about any gathering is the food… and drinks. The only “rule” we have is: keep it simple on yourself and your guests! There may be a natural fit between the purpose of your gathering and food from that region. We also love a good taco or burger bar in the summer and a chili bar in the fall or winter. 4. Share and Listen and Learn

A Do-Good Gathering is a great place to talk about causes that matter to you, hear and learn about causes that your friends are involved with, and encourage even more of your friends to get involved. Here are a few questions to get the conversation started:

  1. What led you to get involved in this cause or with this group?
  2. What is something you learned about this cause that surprised you?
  3. How do you want to get involved and make a difference?

You may also want to have a few quotes prepared to share with the group — you could even post these around the gathering space to inspire your guests and create additional conversation.

5. Select Do-Good Items and Gifts

Use the “party favors” as an opportunity to further support the cause and connect with the theme.

For our #WomenMakingHistory event, we are choosing to purchase products that support women artisans, made by and support women, and/or benefit a woman-owned business.

In addition to wearing our favorite #sudaragoods, we love this Fearlessly Female Etsy Collection for even more ideas.

#WomenMakingHistory

You can celebrate #WomenMakingHistory by nominating a woman who inspires YOU! We’re announcing winners throughout the month and partnering with Sudara Freedom Fund, Joyn, and Mulxiply to gift each winner with an awesome, do-good prize pack.
